WELCOME TO THE FACULTY SENATE

The Faculty Senate is the officially constituted representative body of the Faculty, with members elected for 3-year terms from each of the Colleges (or similar academic unit) according to guidelines described in The Constitutionand By-Laws of the Faculty.

In response to the Board of Regents' charge that Faculty shall share in the governance and administration of the University, the Senate, as representative body to the Faculty, exercises responsibility in: curriculum, academic climate, long-range planning, budgetary planning, University organization and administration, and general faculty welfare. Membership is open to all faculty members, as described in the Constitution and By-Laws. Many of the Senate's activities involve three Faculty Councils, each elected from the Faculty at large and chaired by a member of the Senate.
