NAU Student Employment is here to assist you in locating a student job. We provide listings of both on- and off-campus jobs online through Gateway Connects. This system allows you to search jobs on-line, obtain more information about employers and directly contact employers on-line through Gateway Connects!

Federal Work Study

To be eligible for Federal Work Study jobs you must:

  • File a FAFSA to determine need eligibility.
  • Be a citizen of the U.S., or a U.S. National.
  • Permanent Resident who has an Alien Registration Card.
  • Enroll as a full-time student:
    12 hours for undergraduates
    9 hours for graduates
  • Check your Financial Aid Award Letter to see if you have been awarded Federal Work Study funds.
  • Accept your Federal Work Study award.
  • Apply for and be hired for a Federal Work Study position.
  • Not work more than 30 hours per week while school is in session.
  • Make Satisfactory Academic Progress toward a degree as defined by the Office of Student Financial Aid.
 

If you have been awarded Federal Work Study you must Accept or Decline the award. To do so:

  1. Log on to your LOUIE account at www.nau.edu/louie
  2. Go to the student center view and click on View or Decline Awards (towards the bottom)
  3. Click on the applicable aid year
  4. Check the accept or decline box for your federal work study award.

Student Wage Employment

Campus Student Wage Employment is non-work study student employment governed only by University policy and standard wage and labor laws. It operates in an identical manner to FWS except students do not have to demonstrate financial need to be hired. The institution provides 100% funding without contribution from the federal government. Opportunities for Student Wage employment can sometimes be limited depending upon the funding University departments are allocated.
 

To be eligible for student wage employment:

  • Be enrolled at least half-time (6 hours for undergraduates and 5 hours for graduates).
  • Not work more than 30 hours per week while school is in session.
  • Apply for and be hired for a student wage position.
*some restrictions and exceptions apply to these guidelines.
