NAU Merit Tuition Scholarships

First year, incoming freshman (those who have not previously attended another institution) are automatically considered for some academic scholarships once they are accepted to Northern Arizona University. Students who wish to be considered for merit tuition scholarships should postmark the undergraduate application and all supporting credentials (official transcript and official ACT and/or SAT scores) as early as possible after the completion of the junior year. To receive merit scholarships, you must be a U.S. Citizen.

The deadline for the NAU Scholarship Application has passed. This means that you will no longer be able to apply for NAU Foundation Scholarships.

You may still complete the application to see what external scholarships you may be eligible for. When reviewing the list of "Recommended Scholarship", be sure to visit the donor's website to find the application and apply using the donor's guidelines. Each scholarship will have a slightly different application process, so please read the instructions carefully.

This is an application for all University Foundation Scholarships as well as a search tool for hundreds of external scholarships for which you may want to apply. This questionnaire will match up your criteria with available scholarships. Please have an essay prepared to attach. This essay should include your education and career goals, future aspirations, community service involvement and employment history.

As some scholarships are need-based, we recommend that you file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in addition to this application.

The more complete your application, the better able we are to search for scholarships on your behalf. When filling out the questionnaire, remember to answer all questions completely and carefully. Questions follow a response tree, so if a change in response is needed, you will need to go back to that point and complete the rest of the application again. Also, there is a section for free form responses. Please be sure to answer completely and in good form as these responses will be sent to the review committees for selection.

You will need your LOUIE log-in information to fill out the scholarship application.

If for disability reasons you need assistance completing the Scholarship Application, please contact our office at 928-523-4951.

Tips & Hints for Completing the NAU Scholarship Application

The NAU Scholarship Application is designed to work using Internet Explorer (IE) 6.0 or higher. If you need to download or update your version of IE please visit: www.microsoft.com/ie.

Step 5 of the NAU Scholarship Application is labeled Attach Documents. This page allows you to upload resumes, letters of recommendation, or any other document required by a specific scholarship. This will only work for NAU Foundation Scholarships. Scholarship applications that require you to leave the NAU Scholarship Application page will not be able to access documents you upload. Attaching documents to your scholarship application allows each scholarship committee to access the information as opposed to requiring you to send individual documents to each scholarship that you qualify for.

If you see any field that is left blank or states “not specified”, please be sure to fill it out completely. The more complete and accurate the information you provide, the more scholarship opportunities will be available to you.

If for any reason you need to update the information you have provided, we recommend that you fully logout of your browser and log back in to allow the system to re-determine your scholarship eligibility.

If you need technical assistance with the Scholarship Application, please contact the Student Technology Center/Help Desk at 928-523-9294 or email at StudentComputing@nau.edu.
