The purpose of the workshop is to assemble fire historians and fire climatologists from across the western US to discuss their most recent research findings and to develop collaborations, research synthesis products, and plan for future database development and investigations. Both tree-ring/fire scar and sediment/charcoal fire historians are invited, and the workshop will be structured to provide opportunities for general interactions among researchers, as well as focused discussions on technical topics specific to each field. Researchers primarily involved in the investigation of fire climatology (both modern and paleo) and modeling have also been invited to participate.
