Testimonal Banner Bottom of Banner

As part of Northern Arizona University's commitment to providing you with a quality university experience, the Fronske Health Center offers a wide range of on-campus health care services. Fronske's professional staff is dedicated to keeping you healthy and active. Our commitment to you is to provide high-quality, affordable, and accessible services.

Primary Care

Fronske is a full-service, professional medical facility with three physicians and six nurse practitioners. We offer a full spectrum of health care services on site, including lab, X-ray, pharmacy, nursing, health education, and some specialty care. We can meet many, if not all, of your primary care needs.

Urgent Care

Approximately 60% of our daily visits are open for same-day illness or injury. In most cases, if you are not feeling well we can help you on the same day.

Students can be seen by appointment or use our Urgent Care Clinic for more urgent situations:
  • Walk in to the Urgent Care Clinic (urgent illness and injury) Monday through Friday 10:00am-5:00pm during the academic year (hours may vary depending on seasonal demand)
  • Our hours are Monday, Tuesday,Thursday and Friday from 8:00am-5pm; Wednesday 9:00am-5pm; most Saturdays 11:00am-2pm during the academic year

Fronske Pharmacy

Fronske Health Center provides high quality pharmaceutical services to the student population and to eligible faculty and staff. Both prescription and non-prescription (over-the-counter) medications are available. No insurance is required to fill prescriptions at the pharmacy. Prescriptions may also be filled from providers other than Fronske providers. Our non-prescription products are comparable of the products available off campus. We strive to keep our pricing as low as possible for our students and many times our prices for prescriptions may be less than off-campus or your insurance co-pays. Special orders are available upon request. Students should check our prices before they take their Rx off campus.

The insurances that we currently accept are Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Arizona, certain Caremark, Walgreens Health Initiatives, certain Prescription Card Services (PCS), and certain Cigna plans. Check with the pharmacist about your plan. Payment is accepted by cash, check, Mastercard/Visa, American Express and the Mountain Campus Express Card (MCEC).

Pharmacy charges will be put on the student's Louie account allowing them 30 days to pay for the prescription. Thus, no student will need to go without medication due to limited finances.

Health Promotions

The Health Promotion Office works cooperatively with many campus departments using an environmental-ecological model to support a healthy campus environment. The office provides health education and health promotion services directly to students to support their health and well-being. The services include alcohol and other drug abuse prevention education, online health assessments, integrative health programming such as massage therapy and nutrition counseling, online birth control education, sexual assault awareness programming, and general health and wellness promotion. Campus health surveys conducted by the Health Promotion Offices are available online. The Health Promotion Office is located in Raymond Hall, Building 39.

Fronske Laboratory

The Health Center's laboratory is certified by the Division of Laboratory Services, Department of Health and Human Services. The laboratory is equipped to perform most testing needed for your provider to diagnose acute illness during your visit. Any testing that can not be performed at the Health Center laboratory is sent to the appropriate testing facility. Many of these results are available within 1-2 days of collection.

We are able to do testing requested by the Health Center providers or your family provider with a written order. The testing results ordered by your family provider will be sent directly to them to review.

Fronske Radiology

The Health Center's radiology department is certified by the Arizona Radiation Regulatory Agency. Most routine noninvasive X-rays can be performed when ordered by the Health Center's providers or your family provider. We have the ability to develop the X-ray films immediately so the Health Center provider can evaluate your situation. All X-rays are sent to a Radiologist for a formal reading and report. These reports are available within 1 to 2 days.

Workman's Compensation

The Fronske Health Center offers health care to NAU employees and NAU student employees injured in the workplace. In addition to providing complete medical care for injuries, our expert staff will also work with Human Resources to assist you in completing all of the required paperwork. Same day and walk-in appointments are available for worker's compensation cases. Lab work, x-rays, and pharmacy services are available on-site to assist in evaluation and treatment of injuries.

For more information visit NAU's Human Resources web page.
