NAU's flexible Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies (BAiLS) degree offers students an opportunity to design a program of studies, in consultation with an advisor, that meets their individual educational needs.
This university-wide, interdisciplinary degree is designed for individuals who:
- desire to influence their own specialized area of study.
- plan to enter occupations that require a broad general education.
- seek personal intellectual enrichment or career advancement.
- are enrolled in statewide academic programs.
- are considering pre-professional programs for medicine, dentistry, law, or veterinary medicine.
"I am a Public Health graduate student at the University of Arizona and will be applying to medical school this year. Obtaining my BAiLS degree allowed me to explore a variety of subjects, as well as to be enrolled in required premed courses. It was important that my college education incorporated areas outside of the 'life sciences,' such as humanities, in order to maintain my enthusiasm and inquisitiveness. BAiLS allowed me to successfully tailor my studies to my interest." --Catherine LeCesne
