Educational Options Options for high school graduates range from career / technical schools and colleges and community colleges to private liberal arts colleges and universities. For a listing of Arizona postsecondary options, look into the Postsecondary Commission of Arizona's College and Career Guide. Students who want to remain in the west but go to school out of state should consider schools available through the WICHE program while those interested in national and international opportunities should see information provided by College Opportunities On-Line and by MIT student Christina DeMello. Options for minority students are plentiful. They include schools identified by the associations for Hispanic Colleges and Universities and for Historically Black Colleges and Universities as well as by American Indian Library Association and Lisa Mitten, who describes herself as a mixed-blood Mohawk urban Indian. Students with disabilities can find great advice on the DO IT! website. Disabilities, Opportunities, Internetworking, and Technology (DO IT!) offers great information on college and career planning that every college-bound student will find helpful. More great advice is available in the booklet Students with Disabilities Preparing for Postsecondary Education: Know Your Rights and Responsibilities. NAU, ASU, U of A, and the state's community colleges all provide services designed to ensure that the university experience and campus services are available to all students. Some schools across the nation even offer summer workshops that enable students with disabilities to learn all about the college environment and improve their academic readiness before the fall semester begins.
