Barbara Soby

Barbara Soby graduated summa cum laude from Boston State College with a B.A. in psychology and from the University of California - Davis with an M.S. in child development. She has co-authored several publications, including Self-Esteem and Adolescent Pregnancy, a chapter in The Social Importance of Self Esteem (1989). Both Barbara's volunteer work and her professional career -- in crisis intervention, victim services, community mediation, public health and safety policy, and GEAR UP -- reflect her belief that empowerment (through knowledge, access and inclusion) is the key to addressing social problems and improving the quality of life.
