Demonstrations

These packages are designed to provide a hands-on experience with technology:
  • faculty and staff in-service
  • technology open house for parents and community members
  • hardware, software, multimedia and/or Internet (Mac and PC)
We bring hardware and software to your site. We can start with an in-service of 1-2 hours to provide a basic introduction to how the technology can be integrated into the curriculum. Then we have hands-on demonstrations of the technology for your staff, your community, parents, and/or board members. We have software at the K-higher education level in most subject areas including CD-ROM, laser video disc, and even Internet demonstrations!

Presentations

Our presentations are designed for staff meetings or other similar settings.  They are usually not hands-on but are a good introduction to basic principles and can be delivered to large groups of people.  Most can include an appropriate hands-on session as well.

Ethics and Etiquette on the Internet (1 - 2 hours)

The increased use of the internet for business and communication has made it even more crucial for people to adopt some ‘ground rules’ when using cyberspace. Whether posting a web page, sending an email message, or participating in an on-line conference there are both ethical and etiquette considerations.  It is important that students are exposed to these considerations early and often.  Teaching ethics and etiquette is not done in a one-time lesson.  It needs to be integrated throughout the educational experience from elementary to post-secondary and from the English class to the business class.  This session will give you the do’s and don’ts and will be useful to every net user from the casual email user to the web master.   Whether you teach the Internet, or just use the Internet, this session will provide valuable information and resources.

Hardware/Software Purchasing (2 - 4 hours):

Teaches educators how to make good decisions when buying hardware and software, explaining computer jargon in "layman's" terms. This workshop has also been called "Batteries Not Included." It is updated every time it is presented to include current technology and pricing information.

Technology Integration (1 - 4 hours):

This presentation is an overview of using instructional technology in the classroom.
It includes:
  • Historical Overview
  • Types of Computer Software
  • Benefits of Using Research done on Technology in the Classroom
Longer sessions can include hardware/software purchasing information and more demonstrations of use including CD-ROM and laser video disc.

Integrating the Internet into the Classroom (1 - 3 hours)

Many of you may have already started integrating the Internet into your classroom.  Others may have only used it on a limited basis with students, either because of access or because you have not found compelling enough reasons to integrate.  This workshop is designed to give formalized instruction on how to integrate as well as background on issues of which you should be aware.

Digital Imaging Technology (2-4 hrs)

This introductory workshop provides participants the opportunity to become familiar with digital imaging technology (flat bed scanners, 35 mm slide scanners, digital camera, scanner, and photo software, etc.) including an optional hands-on project utilizing the digital camera, scanner and photo software (Adobe PhotoShop or PhotoDeluxe) to demonstrate the technology for use in the classroom.

Customized Presentations:

We can customize any presentation on computers or technology topics for your group. We just need to know the topics they are interested in and the time frame available for presentation.

All presentations use state-of-the-art equipment including multimedia to present the information.
