IDEA capacity building grants

IDEA capacity building grants are designed to encourage the development of programs that help meet the education requirements of students with a special emphasis on those with disabilities. The grants focus on increasing the level of knowledge and skills of educators through a variety of training and mentoring opportunities. Funding through the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act of 2004 provides support for team training and other professional development and grant-related activities that encourage deep systemic change within a school or district.

  1. Arizona public education agencies serving students K – 12 are eligible for these grants if they have:
  2. Submitted the most recent special education census and/or is serving students with special needs.
  3. Applied for current year IDEA Basic Entitlement funds;

Have approved special education policies and procedures on file with the Arizona Department of Education, Exceptional Student Services.

Individual grant priorities may have additional eligibility requirements that are exclusive of that grant.
