SELECT ENROLLMENT GUIDELINES

SELECT courses can be taken in two ways: 1) for Professional Growth or 2) for NAU Credit.

The way you take a SELECT course depends upon whether you need a record of contact hours only or an official university transcript. Those working toward teacher certification will need university credit. Teachers working toward re-certification can take any course for Professional Growth contact hours.

If you are trying to decide if a SELECT class will meet your needs for Special Education certification or re-certification, please contact the Arizona Department of Education Certification Office in Phoenix at (602) 542-4367 or in Tucson at (520) 628-6326.
Website: http://www.ade.state.az.us/certification
Email: certification@ade.az.gov.

SELECT courses may not apply to a degree program without prior written approval from your academic advisor. In general, only one or two SELECT classes can be used as elective requirements for a degree program.

Professional growth

(certificate of contact hours)

Enrollment: If you wish to enroll for professional growth, call 928-523-1809, 520-879-7924.
Tuition: The course is free to public and charter school employees.
Materials: Please keep in mind that you may be expected to purchase a textbook for a SELECT class. Your course syllabus (which you should receive prior to the first class session) will list information about the textbook and purchasing information. If you are registering late or have not received your course syllabus, please contact SELECT (select@nau.edu or 928-523-1809; 520-879-7924) to ask for a syllabus.
Deadline: Enrollment materials for professional growth must be received THREE WEEKS prior to the first day of class. If you wish to enroll later than this, please call before submitting your enrollment form.

NAU Credit

(university transcript)

Application: If you have not been enrolled as an NAU graduate student within the last year you must submit an NAU "Application for Non-Degree Graduate Admission," with your application fee of $25.00. This can be done online at: http://home.nau.edu/gradcol/apply.asp.  You may also submit a paper form which can be downloaded from that same web site. You must use the non-degree graduate application because SELECT classes are NOT part of a graduate degree program.

Enrollment: To enroll in a class, after receiving your NAU username and password, go to: http://green.ucc.nau.edu/louie/. Click on Self Service; Enrollment; and Enrollment/Add Classes. If you have difficulty enrolling, please call the student help line at 888-520-7215.

Tuition: For up to date information about tuition and fees, please see the NAU Distance Learning Tuition Tables: http://distance.nau.edu/Finances/tuition_tables.aspx.

Materials: Please keep in mind that you may be expected to purchase a textbook for a SELECT class. Your course syllabus (which you should request prior to the first class session) will list information about the textbook and purchasing information. NAU’s Tuition Payment Plan: http://home.nau.edu/bursar/tuitionpayment.asp.  For Fall and Spring, tuition not paid by the due date will be placed on the Automatic Tuition Payment Plan and will incur a $50.00 non-refundable service fee. Did you know?

SELECT courses provide training to persons seeking to expand their skills in working with children with disabilities and are recommended for general and special education teachers, administrators, related service personnel, and para-educators.

SELECT classes can be taken for university credit by those teachers or administrators who are required by their school districts to have official transcripts and for those who may need to transfer hours out of state.

The classes can also be taken for professional growth contact hours for free.
