
Skills and Knowledge for Inclusive and Effective Schools is a collaborative project between the Northern Arizona University College of Education and the Institute for Human Development. The focus of the project is to offer a master’s degree program to prepare personnel to serve students with low incidence disabilities in inclusive settings. The program will involves an intensive internship model combined with coursework in current evidence-based practices. Graduates of the SKIES program will receive a university certificate as Inclusion Specialists.
Project SKIES will require students to be enrolled on a full-time basis for one full year of study (Spring, Summer, and Fall). Students will be provided a stipend along with tuition reimbursement in order to maximize the highly intense and focused nature of the proposed program of study. The project will successful graduate, at a minimum, 30 highly trained personnel who will be qualified as inclusion specialists in the area of severe/profound disabilities.
