Trombone Choir Concert

Mikhail Lossel/Thin Air Reading Series

A native of St. Petersburg, Russia, Mikhail Lossel is a writer in residence at Union College in Schenectady, N.Y. He is the co-editor of the anthology Amerika: Essays by Contemporary Russian Writers on the U.S. (Dalkey Archive, 2004).

Haeger visits China in recruitment effort
Northern Arizona University is looking at a largely untapped market of potential new students-in China.
President John Haeger and Stephen Wright, director of NAU's International Office, traveled to China last month to explore the possibility of bringing more Chinese students to study at NAU. READ MORE...
Strategic plan feedback sessions scheduled
NAU's Strategic Planning Council will host 15 planning and priority sessions to give NAU students, faculty and staff the opportunity to provide feedback on university planning priorities.
The NAU community is encouraged to ask questions about the current priorities and suggest other priorities.
The first session with Distance Learning is scheduled for 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, in the Adel Math building, room 137.
Four sessions are scheduled for Nov. 10, including a general open session for the entire campus community from 1 to 3 p.m. in Cline Library Assembly Hall. READ MORE...

NAU master plan consultant to host
community gathering
Ayers/Saint/Gross, the consultant for Northern Arizona University's campus master plan, will host a community gathering from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, in the Cline Library Assembly Hall.
The consultant will present future plans for campus transportation, parking, landscaping and campus entrances and perimeters. Ayers/Saint/Gross will be soliciting input and questions at the gathering, which is open to the NAU and Flagstaff-area communities.
Reduction of Work Study funds may continue
The amount of Federal Work Study money available to qualifying students on the NAU campus has deceased by 16 percent from the 2003-04 academic year, and the trend is expected to continue. READ MORE...

Nationally, roughly 2,000 to 3,000 people a year die a domestic violence-related death, according to Neil Websdale, director of the National Domestic Violence Fatality Review Initiative based at Northern Arizona University. But the total number is even higher given indirect causes of death, he said.

Five weeks from competing at the national championships, NAU senior cheerleader Kristyna Robinson received the call that her National Guard unit was being deployed to Iraq along with four of her NAU teammates. Talk about your life changing moments. She spent a year in Iraq. Back at NAU to complete her senior year, again, Robinson still wears both uniforms. She had drills over Homecoming weekend but still managed to cheer at the game. |
