'In the Name of Kameha'

Responding to the call for blood donations in the name of Kameha Umphrey, the daughter of faculty member Laura Umphrey, NAU employees quickly organized two blood drives earlier this month in the name of the little girl, who died March 19.

A United Blood Services drive will be held Monday, March 28, and Wednesday, March 30, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in room 340, School of Communication, bldg. 16, on NAU's north campus. To give blood at that location, go to www.bloodhero.com and enter sponsor name: naucomm.

The Red Cross is conducting a blood drive on Monday, March 28 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the du Bois Center, bldg. 64 on NAU's south campus. Donors should bring a Red Cross donor Card or photo ID. Clarification
The College of Health Professions, within the Consortium of Professional Schools and Colleges, has been reorganized to strengthen its research and educational mission and to simplify its administrative structure. The changes were approved by the Arizona Board of Regents at its March 10 meeting in Tucson.

The existing college will split into two schools: the School of Nursing and the School of Health Professions. The consortium will be known as the Consortium of Professional Schools and will still include the School of Forestry and the School of Hotel and Restaurant Management, both of which will remain unchanged.

The School of Health Professions will include three departments:

  • Dental Hygiene
  • Rehabilitation Sciences, including Communication Sciences and Disorders, Physical Therapy and Athletic Training
  • Health Sciences, formerly Health Promotion
