Rare African bird conservation takes flight

2,000 students to take part
in Dec. 15 commencement

More than 2,000 Northern Arizona University seniors and graduate students will be conferred with their bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees at two ceremonies beginning at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Dec. 15 in the J. Lawrence Walkup Skydome.

Surcharge set for excess credit hours
In addition to setting tuition for 2007-08 at its Nov. 30-Dec. 1 meeting, the Arizona Board of Regents established a surcharge for undergraduate students who exceed a legislatively mandated threshold of credit hours.

Interim dean appointed for SBS
Kooros Mahmoudi, a professor of sociology, will serve as interim dean of the college while a permanent dean is sought.

accepts position at Northwestern

Martin's last day will be Jan. 3. Associate Registrar Steve Miller has agreed to serve as interim registrar until a replacement is named.

Mary Ainsworth, who taught home economics at Northern Arizona University for 20 years, died Dec. 1 in Cottonwood.

The words "he's stopped breathing" cause NAU nursing students to scramble to their patient's side. They administer emergency procedures to revive him, and although he starts breathing again, he still isn't alive.
