NAU in the news

Small animals cause big problems for farmers
One researcher, Con Slobodchikoff of Northern Arizona University, has documented more than 100 prairie dog calls, according to www.prairiedog.info. The animals elicit a distinct call for different predators, warning fellow colony mates of danger using chirps akin to adjectives — the dogs can even communicate the color shirt a human wears, Slobodchikoff maintains.

PVCC to offer 4-year NAU degree
Paradise Valley Community College will begin offering a four-year business administration degree from Northern Arizona University on its campus this fall. NAU Assistant Dean for Distance Learning Doug Small said the program makes sense because NAU already has resources on PVCC's campus, which can be utilized to provide students a quality education. "We're really excited because it's (four-year degree) a way to extend our (business) programs for students who can't travel to Flagstaff," Mr. Small said. Mr. Small said he thinks students will respond well to the new program because they will start their college experience in a familiar setting and can continue their education at the same location, without being disrupted. "They're going to have it all right there," he said.
