Workforce planning addresses salary equity
Northern Arizona University's new workforce planning initiative should help to enhance salary equity among NAU staff members in similar positions while streamling the annual budget process.
It also adds $700,000 to NAU classified staff and service professional salaries this year on top of the general salary adjustment and merit raises distributed in March. The university has allocated these funds to compensate employees for any reclassifications and equity adjustments. Such adjustments will affect approximately 15 percent of staff and service professionals.

Cardinals welcome Flagstaff trip: Team happy training camp is back on 'familiar ground'
In 18 seasons in Arizona, the Cardinals have tried, and mostly failed, to develop any positive traditions. That's part of what makes their return to Northern Arizona University this year for training camp significant. This works. The cooler temperatures. The proximity to the Valley. Practicing at an elevation of 7,200 feet. The afternoon showers. The pine trees that surround the practice fields. The gauntlet of autograph seekers who greet the players as they leave practice. ...The Cardinals put their camp up for bids this off-season before choosing Flagstaff over Prescott. While money might have been the deciding factor, the selection was in the best interests of fans. The practice facility at NAU can accommodate more fans. It also allows them to get closer to the action on two of the three fields or to watch while shaded by the pine trees. Autographs and pictures are easier to get, and if it rains everyone can move inside the J. Lawrence Walkup Skydome.
