Legislature passed several bills affecting universities
The fiscal year 2009 budget dominated the headlines as the 2008 legislative session drew to a close at the end of June. However, several bills became law this year that are of interest to the state's universities.
NAU has graduation ceremony in China
Provost Liz Grobsmith traveled to Yunnan University in Kunming in June to confer degrees on the first five Chinese students to graduate from a joint 1+2+1 program between NAU and several Chinese universities.

NAU to host African American commission's
Town Hall
The Arizona Commission on African American Affairs will hold its first Flagstaff Town Hall at Northern Arizona University next week to discuss the future of Arizona.

SPOTLIGHT: Kudos to NAU faculty, staff and students for these recent accomplishments:
- Jodi Beaudry, a research specialist in Microbial Genetics and Genomics
- Theresa Bierer, host of Inside NAU the television show, along with Television Services and the Office of Public Affairs
- Heidi Wayment, professor of psychology, Bill Wiist, professor of health sciences, Bruce M. Sullivan, professor of religious studies, and Meghan Warren, assistant professor of physical therapy
