Buddhist leader to visit NAU

Ganteng Tulku Rinpoche, the spiritual leader of Bhutan, the last Buddhist kingdom in the Himalayas, will present "Living One's Spirituality" Friday, Nov. 18, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. in the Cline Library assembly hall.

Lynn Gardner, who teaches in the Honors program, met the leader during a month-long tour of Bhutan a few years ago. She and the group she was with were invited to stay at his monastery.

"When I found out that he was going on a North American teaching tour, I invited him to come to Flagstaff and talk with the NAU folks and Flagstaff community," Gardner said. "Amazingly, he agreed."

Ganteng Tulku Rinpoche is responsible for over twenty-five monastaries in Bhutan, which is situated between Tibet and India, and has established both retreat centers and monastic schools. He has traveled widely in Europe and America, where he is known for his clarity and directness in presenting the highest teachings of Vajrayana Buddhism.

In addition to presenting at Tinsley, Rinpoche will present "Dzogchen: The Ground, Path & Fruition" on Saturday, Nov. 19, at 10 a.m. at Unity of Flagstaff, 2708 N. Fourth Street.
