Margaret Morley honored at Homecoming Dedicatee Banquet

Colleagues, friends, students and 20 past homecoming honorees turned out for a touching tribute to history professor Margaret Morley, who was honored Tuesday as the 2006 homecoming dedicatee.

Cynthia Kosso, chair of the history department, called Morley a "tremendous mentor and friend," and someone who has always been there when needed.

Senior history major David Rich said Morley is perhaps the most caring individual he has ever known. "The university strives to have professors like her," he said. "She is dedicated to the students."

NAU President John Haeger said professors like Morley, who spend their careers at one institution, are committed to the students and the institutions they serve. "This is the difference that matters," he said.

Morley humbly accepted the honor, saying, "NAU is a unique place in all the world... I am grateful to teach a subject I am always engaged in. Here, people care and undergraduates matter. I am so grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of it."
