ITS recommends against new version of Explorer Information Technology Services is recommending that NAU internet users avoid downloading the new Internet Explorer version 7 because of conflicts with PeopleSoft and Advantage. The Microsoft version was released Tuesday, and testing by ITS confirms that despite enhanced features and security, version 7 makes Advantage unusable and conflicts with PeopleSoft. ITS will not provide version 7 during the automatic Windows updates currently pushed to the campus network until these conflicts are resolved, which could take two months. NAU faculty and staff should not update their computers themselves until conflicts are resolved. ITS will enable the automatic updates as soon as the department has tested valid compatible versions of both applications. If you have already installed Internet Explorer 7 and wish to downgrade, go to the "Add/Remove Programs" feature in the Control Panel of "My Computer." It is listed under "Windows Internet Explorer." Direct any questions to the Solution Center at (928) 523-1511. |
