Renowned author Diana Gabaldon featured Northern Arizona University grad and bestselling author Diana Gabaldon will be featured at the first Writer-in-Residence program through NAU's College of Arts and Letters, Feb. 19-24. The program will focus on the role of research in shaping novels—working with historical facts to develop plot, character, etc.—and will include small workshops for students, public lectures and readings. Gabaldon is the author of A Breath of Snow and Ashes, currently on the New York Times Bestseller List and the latest in her "Outlander" series. As part of the program, she will invite several authors to participate in a professional development panel on Feb. 24 that will address issues writers often face in their careers, including working with agents and getting published. NAU students can earn one hour of English independent study credit through the program. Applications are due Jan. 20.
