Multicultural Student Center
cosponsors sketch comedy at Theatrikos

Theatrikos Theatre Company is hosting the Arizona debut of Stir-Friday Night, a Chicago-based Asian-American sketch comedy and improvisational theatre troupe.

NAU's Multicultral Student Center is cosponsoring the production, which offers humorous, thought-provoking works that educate a broad spectrum of audiences about the Asian-American experience. Using comedy as a tool, Stir-Friday Night attempts to dispel stereotypes and bridge understanding among the various social, racial and intergenerational groups within the community.

The show runs at 8 p.m. Jan. 27, or 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Jan. 28. Tickets are $8 for students or $10 for the general public, and can be purchased at the Doris Harper White Community Playhouse, 11 W. Cherry, or by calling (928) 774-1662.

The troupe recently finished performing "Yellow," based on the book, Yellow: Race in America Beyond Black and White, by Frank Wu, a Chinese-American law professor at Howard University. The book is on reserve at NAU's Cline Library.
