EAW announces programs

The Employee Assistance and Wellness office is offering a number of programs to improve fitness, communication and personal well-being.

  • Qi Gung - Energy Practice
    with George Breed
    12:10 to 12:50 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays, Jan. 24, 26, 31, and Feb. 2, NAU Recreation Center Conference Room. Free.

  • Beginning Tai Chi, Session I
    with Patrick Martin, Chen-style instructor
    5:30 to 6:30 p.m., Mondays, Jan. 23 - Feb. 27, du Bois Conference Center. $60

  • Intermediate Tai Chi Session I

  • Intentional Communication
    with Marcia Warden, Human Resources training coordinator and Stan Clark, EAW psychologist
    1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, University Union, Havasupai C. Free.

  • Depression Panel Discussion: Conventional and complementary health therapies for the treatment and prevention of depression
    Panelists: Shelley Everly, psychiatrist; Mark James, naturopathic physician; Stan Clark, psychologist
    1 to 3 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6, University Union, Havasupai C. Free.
    Find out about different approaches to understanding and working with depression. Each panelist will briefly present an approach to preventing and treating depression, and participants will have the opportunity to ask questions. Space is limited.   • Yoga: Acupressure, self-massage and meditation
    with Ann Higgins, registered teacher of traditional classical yoga

  • Wellness at Work Health Screening
    8:30 a.m. to noon, Thursday, Feb. 23, University Union, Kaibab Room. Free.
    All NAU faculty and staff, who have not participated in the last year, are eligible for a free, confidential health assessment. The screening includes a non-fasting cholesterol and blood screen, blood pressure check, body fat measurement and neck and shoulder massage. To register, call (928) 523-1552.
