Lumberjacks football schedule includes
The Northern Arizona University football team will play at Arizona State University for the second time in four seasons in 2006. NAU last played at ASU in 2003 but that was the first meeting with the Sun Devils since 1950. "It is a great opportunity for our university to play a marquee game against an in-state team that will again be a huge draw for our students, faculty and alumni," said Jim Fallis, NAU athletics director. The Lumberjacks will open the season in Tempe at 7 p.m. Aug. 31 at Sun Devil Stadium. NAU and ASU have met 36 times on the gridiron dating back to the days both schools were members of the Border Conference. The remainder of the 2006 NAU football schedule will be announced at a future date. "Our program is excited about the challenge of playing a Pac-10 opponent," said Lumberjacks head coach Jerome Souers, who had 27 in-state players on his roster last season. "The exposure and experience our program receives from playing an in-state game against programs like Arizona and Arizona State is invaluable." |
