NAU hosting 13th annual MEChA conference

High school, community college and university students nationwide will come together at Northern Arizona University to discuss human rights issues and propose resolution and action items at the 13th annual MEChA conference.

Sponsored by MEChA de NAU, the conference will be held on campus, March 23-26.

"The students address current issues and come up with resolutions at the end of the conference with action items," said Liz Archuleta, coordinator of multicultural community relations in the Office of the President. "It's a real honor for us to have it here at NAU." Archuleta is serving as liaison to the conference planning teams.

The conference, expecting 800 participants, is student run and led. Students will be presenting on immigration, gender equity, sexism, "Chicanismo," youth leadership and cultural workshops. Students attending must be MEChA members or sponsored by a member.
