Kelly Golob earns NCAA postgraduate scholarship Former men's basketball player Kelly Golob was awarded an NCAA postgraduate scholarship, becoming the first NAU student-athlete to earn the scholarship since former football player Jake Crissup was selected in 2000 and only the 11th recipient in school history. "It is tremendous honor to receive an NCAA postgraduate award," said Golob, who plans on studying chiropractic health care. "It is going to go a long way to further my career and education. I feel lucky the NCAA chose to help me in my professional career." Golob was Male Scholar Athlete of the Year recipient. He was an ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America second-team selection, becoming just the fifth player in school history to earn Academic All-America honors and first since 1979. He is the all-time leading scorer in school history with 1,550 points, ranking second on the NAU and Big Sky career three-pointer list with 289. To qualify for an NCAA postgraduate scholarship, a student-athlete must have an overall grade-point average of at least 3.2 (on a 4.0 scale) and must have performed with distinction as a member of the varsity team in the sport in which the student was nominated. The student-athlete must have behaved on and off the field in a manner that brought credit to the student-athlete, the institution and intercollegiate athletics. The student also must intend to continue academic work beyond the baccalaureate degree as a full- or part-time graduate student. The NCAA awarded 58 postgraduate scholarships of $7,500 each to 29 male and 29 female student-athletes who participated in winter sports. NAU Postgraduate Scholarship Award Winners
