  • Jeff Berglund, English professor, published a new book, Cannibal Fictions: American Explorations of Colonialism, Race, Gender, and Sexuality. The book is a comprehensive examination of the treatment of cannibalism in the United States. Berglund considers how treatments of cannibalism variously perpetuated or subverted racist, sexist, and homophobic ideologies rooted in earlier times.
  • Mary I. Dereshiwsky and Gary L. Emanuel, associate professors of educational leadership, and Bill Wright, department chair of educational leadership, presented their paper, "A Case Study of Telementoring of Adjunct University Faculty," at the ED-MEDIA World Conference on Educational Multimedia, Hypermedia and Telecommunications in Orlando, Fla., June 26-30.
  • Raymond Michalowski, Regents' Professor in criminal justice, and Nancy Wonders, chair of criminal justice, were invited participants in an international roundtable on Transnational Crime, held in June at the Monash Centre in Prato, Italy.
  • Richard Quartaroli, Cline Library special collections librarian, attended the third International Conference on Rivers and Civilization: Multidisciplinary Perspectives on Major River Basins, in La Crosse, Wis. where he organized the session "John Wesley Powell and the Colorado River Dream," and presented "John Wesley Powell's Cartography of the Colorado River System." He also posed as Powell for "The Selected Prose of John Wesley Powell."
