- Paul Beier, professor of conservation biology in the School of Forestry, has been appointed to the Science Committee of the Western Governors' Association Wildlife Corridors Project. This committee, composed of six government representatives and five scientists, will provide the scientific advice needed to fulfill a commitment made in February 2007 by the 19 western governors to identify and protect key wildlife corridors and habitats in the West.
- Ken Lorek, the Ralph M. Bilby Chair of Business Administration in The W.A. Franke College of Business, had an article accepted for publication in an upcoming issue of Review of Quantitative Finance and Accounting titled "New Evidence Pertaining to the Prediction of Operating Cash Flows," coauthored with G. Lee Willinger of the Price College of Business at the University of Oklahoma.
- Communication professor Judy Everett and associate professor Kristen Swanson, both in the School of Communication, along with students in NAU's merchandising program, won the 2006-07 NAU Service Learning Award for the project "Model Behavior: Dress Accordingly," a formal runway fashion show that raised $5,000 for the Merchandising Leaders of the 21st Century Scholarship fund.
- Debbie Steinman, part-time faculty for Distance Learning, had an article published in the September/October 2007 issue of the peer-reviewed journal TechTrends. The article, "Educational Experiences and the Online Student," explores whether online courses provide a quality educational experience for students.
