Clothing drive to help warm up community

As the autumn chill fills the air, it is time to fill the "Providing Warmth to the Community" bins around campus.

The fifth annual clothing drive, sponsored by NAU's Classified Staff Advisory Council, runs from Oct. 8 through Nov. 7.

Organizers are hoping to collect new and gently used men's, women's and children's coats, gloves, scarves, hats, sweats, pants, tops, socks, boots and other assorted warm clothing items. Donations will benefit Sunshine Rescue Mission, Hope Cottage Women and Children's Mission, Sharon Manor and Northland Family Help Center.

"We are running the clothing drive prior to Thanksgiving so we can get warm clothes into the hands of the people who need them before it gets really cold," said Vicki Creager, an accounting specialist in Residence Life working on the drive. "Last year we collected and distributed 1,700 items."

Collection boxes will be located across NAU's Flagstaff campus, including at the Gammage building, the University Union, North Union, South Union, the Blome building, North Morton Hall, Fronske Health Center, Bury Hall, the NAU Bookstore, Adel Mathematics Center, Eastburn Education, Cline Library, Gateway Center, Babbitt Administrative Center, ITS, the Engineering building, the Social and Behavioral Sciences building, Health Professions, The W.A. Franke College of Business, and Reilly and Wilson halls.
