- NAU track and field student-athlete Lopez Lomong was named the Division I Regional 2007 Athlete of the Year for the Mountain Region by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. Lomong's success in 2007 has been unparalleled in the history of NAU men's cross country. Lomong has been virtually unbeatable, grabbing gold at every meet this season.
- With 61 members, NAU's student chapter of the Society of American Foresters has the largest membership in the nation, according to the latest issue of the society's journal, The Forestry Source.
- Gary L. Emanuel and Mary I. Dereshiwsky, associate professors of educational leadership, and Bill Wright, professor of educational leadership, presented "'And the Survey Says:' A Mixed-Methods Study of Educational Leadership Doctoral Student Perceptions of Survey and Qualitative Research Methodologies," and "'Legally Prepared:' A Formative Evaluation of the Impact of the NAU Risk/Retention Trust Academy for Arizona School Administrators," at the Arizona Educational Research Organization annual conference on Nov. 9.
