Artist to discuss living and painting
in the Grand Canyon

Artist Bruce Aiken, who worked, lived and painted in the Grand Canyon for more 30 years, will share his life story and celebrate his new book at 7 p.m. Dec. 5 in Northern Arizona University's Cline Library Assembly Hall.

As a child growing up in New York City, Aiken dreamed of one day living at the end of a long dirt road. The road eventually was five miles down a narrow and steep trail into the depths of the Grand Canyon.

While Aiken tended to the Grand Canyon National Park's water supply at Roaring Springs, he also produced an unparalleled body of Grand Canyon landscape paintings and raised three children with his wife, Mary.

Aiken will share his experiences through a visual presentation and sign his new book: Bruce Aiken's Grand Canyon: An Intimate Affair, published by the Grand Canyon Association.
