Retired mathematics professor Charles G. Moore dies

Charles G. Moore, a mathematics professor at Northern Arizona University for 32 years, died Nov. 9, 2007. He was 80.

Dr. Moore taught mathematics at NAU from 1960 to 1992. He authored numerous academic papers and books, and researched the influence of Native American culture on learning and teaching mathematical concepts.

A Navy veteran, Kiwanis Club member, Boy Scouts leader and Lowell Observatory volunteer, Dr. Moore loved the outdoors, cats and travelling the world.

He was a member of the Flagstaff Federated Church.

Dr. Moore is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sonya Jean; sons Bruce of Tucson, Brett of University Park, Md., and Brad of Sacramento; sister, Barbara Moore Landes; and nine grandchildren.
