Northern Arizona Normal School, now Northern Arizona University, opened its doors on Sept. 11, 1899. The Normal School's first president, Almon Nicholas Taylor, later assisted by Frances Bury, had scoured the countryside in horse and buggy seeking students to fill the classrooms of the single school building, now known as Old Main.

This holiday season remember NAU's past with an eye toward the future by purchasing an Old Main ornament.

All of the proceeds for sales of the ornaments go to the support Northern Arizona University and Coconino Community College scholarship funds.

The ornaments, which come with a gift box and card explaining the history of the building, sell for $20 each with discounts for bulk orders. Some Riordan Mansion ornaments also are available.
