Annual tree lighting and luminaria display tonight

Light up your holiday season tonight with the traditional NAU tree lighting ceremony and luminaria display on the NAU campus.

Thousands of luminarias will line central and north campus beginning at dusk, leading to the large pine tree next to the Blome building, which will be lit at 6 p.m. with festive holiday lights as Mortar Board, a service organization of seniors, serves hot chocolate and cookies.

The students also will be giving out books to children in attendance as part of the organization's national service project, Reading is Leading.

A free showing of The Polar Express follows the ceremony at 6:30 p.m. in Prochnow Auditorium. Donations will be taken at the movie for the Literacy Volunteers of Coconino County.
