- The Arizona Foundation for Legal Services and Education has awarded Robert Schehr, professor of criminology and criminal justice, a $39,000 grant to support the Northern Arizona Justice Project, which investigates Arizona cases where wrongful conviction has been alleged. The funding will be used to increase staffing for the project and fund case investigations and public education travel.
- KNAU's listeners will benefit by a stronger, more reliable service thanks to a $66,000 donation from Cellular One of Show Low. The contribution will allow KNAU to provide satellite downlinks to many communities throughout Arizona.
"This gift will help us reach more listeners with reliable service," said John Stark, KNAU general manager. "It lays the groundwork for reaching Show Low and will help us offer similar high quality signal transmission to other KNAU areas, such as Grand Canyon, Kingman and Page."
In other news, KNAU recently was voted Best Morning Radio Show for the eighth year by readers of the Arizona Daily Sun. Gillian Ferris Kohl is host of Morning Edition.
