Construction to start on new residence hall; half of P25 to close

Construction of a new residence hall on central campus will begin in mid-March, closing the western half of parking lot 25 south of Raymond Hall.

Groundbreaking for the 376-bed residence hall is scheduled for March 19. In preparation for the construction, the western half of P25—between the two pedways—will be closed at noon March 16, as will the majority of the "quad" to the south.

Students who use P25, which is zoned "R" for residence hall parking, are being asked to use the new parking structure across from Ardrey Auditorium by noon March 16. The new parking has more than 700 spaces in the center of campus.

The construction is part of the university's Master Plan, which includes using interior spaces for growth rather than expanding the perimeter of campus, and to enhance the pedestrian-friendly atmosphere.
