Volunteers needed for youth sport competition The Center for High Altitude Training will host a Junior Olympic Skills Competition from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 19 at the NAU Recreation Center and Lumberjack Stadium. The center is seeking volunteers to help administer the four events: basketball, soccer, tennis and track and field, which are free and are open to local boys and girls between the ages of 8 and 13. The program is designed to encourage youth participation in sport while promoting sportsmanship. Champions from this local qualifying event will advance to one of the regional competitions in Arizona in hopes of advancing to the national finals at the Olympic training center in Colorado Springs.
