New law requires student documentation for in-state tuition

With the passage of Proposition 300 by Arizona voters last fall, students at each of the three state universities are now required to provide documentation of residency and citizenship or lawful immigration status to receive in-state tuition rates.

The university has been notifying students that if they fail to provide proof of eligibility, they will be charged out-of-state tuition and cannot receive tuition waivers, grants, scholarship assistance, financial aid, tuition assistance or any other type of financial assistance that is subsidized or paid in whole or in part with state monies.

Faculty and advisors should be aware of the new law, and can refer undergraduate students to the Registrar's Office, (928) 523-5361 or Registrar@nau.edu. Graduate students can direct questions to the Graduate College, (928) 523-4348 or Graduate.College@nau.edu.
