Power outage closes union's retail food outlets

A power outage has resulted in the university closing retail food operations in the University Union until next week, though the rest of the union, including offices, remains open.

A 20-year-old NAU-owned transformer shorted out, causing the outage. A replacement transformer has been ordered.

In the meantime, temporary generators now supporting the union are not strong enough to power Java.com, Sub Connection and Chick-fil-A, which will remain closed most likely until Thursday, June 7, when a more powerful generator is available.

Food is still available at South Dining, the University Field House, Scholar's Corner in Cline Library and beginning Monday at Timber Inn in the North Union.
