Governor and regents to meet on campus It is a busy week on campus as Northern Arizona University hosts meetings of the Arizona Board of Regents and Gov. Janet Napolitano's P-20 Council. The ABOR meeting begins Thursday at 9 a.m. in the Havasupai Room of the University Union. The regents will convene its annual retreat from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. The ABOR retreat will continue at 8 a.m. Friday in the Havasupai Room. During the regular ABOR meeting, President John Haeger will give a brief presentation on regional accreditation and the current national debate about accountability in higher education. Liz Grobsmith, provost and vice president for Academic Affairs, will discuss NAU's international academic programs and global engagements. Other NAU agenda items for the regents meeting include a request to implement the master of science in engineering program and the addition of a $20 million project to the university's capital development plan to upgrade the utility infrastructure on north campus. The governor will be on campus Friday for a joint meeting with ABOR and the P-20 Council Steering Committee. The governor will then speak to a group of invited guests. The P-20 Council, which was established by the governor to improve education from preschool through post-graduate work, also will meet Friday afternoon on campus. |
