- Barbara A. Austin, assistant professor at the Center for Science Teaching and Learning, presented her paper, "The alternative certification of science teachers: Findings from the NST-funded STEM ACG conference," at the National Association for Research in Science Teaching annual conference in New Orleans.
- Peter Friederici, assistant professor of journalism in the School of Communication, had an essay published in the current issue of Audobon magazine. In "Blowing in the Wind," Frederici describes the beauty of seeds that visual artist Rob Kesseler captured with an electron microscope.
- Pete Z. Fulé, associate professor in the School of Forestry, along with K.H. Baumgartner, published their article "Survival and sprouting responses of Chihuahua pine after the Rodeo-Chediski fire on the Mogollan Rim, Arizona" in the Western North American Naturalist.
- Edwin A. Lewis, chemistry professor, was an invited speaker at the first International Meeting on Quadruplex DNA in Louisville, Ky.
- David Ostergren, associate professor in the School of Forestry, published his article, "Comparing wilderness restoration and fire policy in three federal agencies: Variations on a theme in Northern Arizona," in the Journal of Land, Resources and Environmental Law.
- James Dean Palmer, assistant professor in computer science, presented his paper, "Exploiting bibliographic Web services with CiTeX," at the 22nd annual Symposium on Applied Computing in Seoul, South Korea.
