Conference Center bookings looking good

While construction of the High Country Conference Center at Flagstaff continues to make progress on north campus, so does booking it for conferences next year.

"We have made significant progress toward our revenue goal for bookings for our first full year of operations," said Jane Kuhn, fiscal and operations director for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs. "We are pleased that the interest in the conference center is greater than expected."

Scheduled to open in the spring of 2008, the project includes a 150-room hotel, built by Missouri-based Drury Hotels, and a 37,000-square-foot conference center with adjacent parking garage. The joint NAU and city of Flagstaff project will be able to accommodate groups ranging from 200 to 1,000 participants.

Major bookings to date include:

  • The annual Stabilizing Indigenous Language Symposium, May 2008
  • Society of Women Accountants, May 2008
  • Transportation Administrators of Arizona, June 2008
  • Edward Jones Investments, June 2008
  • W.L. Gore and Associates holiday event, December 2008
