Former business professor, administrator Wilma Stricklin
dies at 81

Wilma Deane Stricklin, a former management professor and university administrator, died Aug. 7, 2007, at her home in North Carolina. She was 81.

Miss Stricklin was born Sept. 14, 1925, in Tribbey, Ky., a daughter of S.F. Stricklin Sr. and Cora Jane Williams Stricklin.

She taught management at NAU from 1967 to 1976 and served as chair of the Department of Management, associate provost, vice president, and associate dean of the College of Business Administration before retiring in 1989. A scholarship award was established in her name in 2003.

"The person I am today and the successes I have achieved, I attribute directly to the things I learned while at NAU, but mostly I learned them because of Dr. Stricklin," said Ira Greenspan, who graduated in 1971 with a business degree and now serves on the Alumni Association board of directors. "She took a personal interest not only in me, but in all of her students."

Miss Stricklin was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean War.

She was instrumental in the establishment of the Desert House of Prayer in Sedona.

Miss Stricklin is survived by many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
