Blue Cross/Blue Shield contract finalized; good news for employees NAU will pick up the increased cost of health insurance coverage for the benefit year that begins Oct. 1, meaning employees will pay the same amount as they are paying for employee-only and family plans ($25 and $125 per month, respectively). There is additional good news for small families. A new tier of coverage will be available beginning on Oct. 1 for employees with one dependent (either a spouse or a child). This new level of coverage will cost $75 per month and will be available for all health insurance plans offered by the state of Arizona, which are also available to NAU employees. There are no significant changes to the Blue Cross/Blue Shield plan this year but there are some for the health insurance plans available from the state. Because of the addition of the new coverage level, all benefit-eligible employees will be required to re-enroll in their insurance benefits during Open Enrollment, Aug. 13 through Sept. 10. More information will be sent to employees in the coming weeks. Open Enrollment information is available on the Human Resources web site. |
