NAU opens site in north Phoenix
The finishing touches are being put on NAU's North Valley facility, where classes begin Monday. The building is off I-17 between Bell and Greenway roads.
There are nearly 40,000 square feet of classrooms, labs and office space with the newest technology for distance learning delivery. The building will help NAU deliver many classes, with an emphasis on health-care courses.
Doug Small, assistant dean of Distance Learning, said the new site is key to expanding NAU's delivery of allied health programs.
"Beginning very soon we will have the bachelor of science in dental hygiene program," he said, which targets those who want to advance their careers in that field. "The doctor of physical therapy is for people who are already licensed physical therapists. They can come here and earn their doctoral degree."
Small said the new site will help NAU deliver high quality programs to students in Phoenix. "It helps us expand the kinds of opportunities we're providing to students who are working full time. They're parents, they've got other obligations so it helps us deliver high quality programs in a high quality facility."
A grand opening for the facility will be held Oct. 4.
