Faculty, staff lose e-mail for a day The addition of more disk space for "jan" accounts was to blame for the daylong shut-down of faculty and staff e-mail on Wednesday. Student "dana" accounts were unaffected. Fred Estrella, NAU's chief information technology officer, explained that the process to add more disk space corrupted the file system software. The process of building a new file system and recovering more than 900 gigabytes of information was time consuming and lasted most of the day. "We noticed some oddities over the weekend," Estrella said. "Late Tuesday and into Wednesday we realized the system had to be shut down." No e-mails or files were lost when the system was restored. |
