The NAU School of Music will be sponsoring a new classical music series featuring nine performances throughout the school year. The series will feature brass, piano, strings, winds and voices performing traditional and contemporary classical music. "We're bringing in these sounds and experiences otherwise not accessible in this region," said Todd Sullivan, director of the School of Music. "The series will range from the earliest classical music to music that's been written in the last five to 10 years." The 2007-08 Horizons Concert Series starts at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 1 in Ashurst Auditorium with a performance of baritone Andreas Reibenspies, singing Schubert's Winter Journey with fortepiano by Eckhart Sellheim. "German art song is so bound to the German language," Sullivan said. "This is a native speaker who understands the native sense of the language and the piece." The performances in the series include:
A series subscription is available for adults, $120; seniors (65 and older), $80; children (17 years and younger), $80; NAU students with ID, free. Single tickets are available for adults, $15; seniors, $10; children, $10; and NAU students with ID, free.
