NAU hosts 31st annual economic outlook conference

The chief economist and senior managing director for JP Morgan Private Client Services will be the featured speaker at the 31st annual Chase/Northern Arizona University Economic Outlook Conference on Wednesday, Oct. 31, in Flagstaff.

NAU's Center for Business Outreach is hosting the conference, which will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Radisson Woodland Hotel.

JP Morgan's Anthony Chan, who appears regularly on CNBC and Bloomberg TV, will present an economic outlook.

NAU President John Haeger will make opening remarks, and economics professors Dennis Foster and Ronald Gunderson of NAU’s W.A. Franke College of Business will discuss the regional economic outlook as well as interest rates and inflation. Financial expert Elliott Pollack will address the state’s economic issues.

Chan is in charge of more $100 billion of combined assets at JP Morgan. He is a member of the prestigious Blue Chip Monthly Forecasting panel, the National Association of the Business Economists Quarterly Macro Panel, and the Reuters, Bloomberg and Dow Jones Weekly Economic Indicator panels.

The Center for Business Outreach was founded in 1999, comprising the outreach service units of NAU's W.A. Franke College of Business: the Bureau of Business and Economic Research, Rural Policy Institute, Computer Training Center, Center for Data Insight, the Center for American Indian Economic Development and the Arizona Hospitality Research and Resource Center.
