Art exhibit explores safety, insecurity

The NAU Art Museum will present its latest exhibit, "The Quality of Insecurity," featuring work by renowned artist Dee Hibbert-Jones, an assistant professor at the University of California Santa Cruz.

The multimedia assemblages will explore the issues of germ warfare, our relationship to safety and attack, how we create safe places and at what price.

"Dee Hibbert-Jones inserts oddly beautiful microscopic images of germs and viruses into the public spaces of the hospital and school room, evoking the deadly potential of these organisms," said Jen McLerran, director of the NAU Art Museum. "We are very fortunate to host an exhibition of her work."

The exhibit opens Sept. 14 with a guest artist lecture and presentation at 2 p.m. and reception from 7-9 p.m. The exhibit will run through Oct. 20.

The NAU Art Museum is open from 10 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturdays. The museum also features a unique store featuring local artists. For information, call (928) 523-3471.
